NPR reported in part on November 1, 2021

Sen. Joe Manchin has announced he cannot yet support the $1.75 trillion framework for President Biden's social spending package that congressional Democrats were hoping to push through this week.

"I will not support a bill that is this consequential without thoroughly understanding the impact that it will have on our national debt, our economy and most importantly, all of our American people," the West Virginia Democrat said during a news conference Monday afternoon.

Manchin cited concerns over inflation and the use of what he described as "budget gimmicks" in the framework, saying the ultimate cost of the package could be twice as large if various programs are extended.

His announcement is a blow to Democrats who wanted to bring to the floor this week a vote on both the bipartisan infrastructure deal and the social spending package, which would fulfill major priorities of the Biden administration.

Fox News reported in part on November 1, 2021:

"Simply put, I will not support a bill that is this consequential without thoroughly understanding the impact it will have on our national debt, our economy and the American people," Manchin said. "Every elected representative needs to know what they are voting for and the impact it has, not only on their constituents, but the entire country."

"I, for one, also won’t support a multitrillion-dollar bill without greater clarity about why Congress chooses to ignore the serious effects inflation and debt have on our economy and existing government programs," he added.

Senator Manchin’s announcement criticized the people behind the reconciliation bill for not being honest about how much it would cost and how it would impact America families.  He specifically mentioned "American families" several times.   Manchin asked that progressives stop holding a vote on the bipartisan infrastructure bill hostage until he changed his mind because he won’t change his mind.

Florida Family Association supporters have sent over 18,000 emails to encourage Senator Manchin to oppose the reckless reconciliation socialist spending bill.  Manchin is one of seven moderate Democrat senators that Florida Family Association asked subscribers to send emails to encourage opposition to the legislation.

High inflation and gas prices caused by recent excessive congressional spending are hurting millions of American families and threatening our economy.   The increasing gasoline prices and energy costs will likely go even higher with the left's obsession with the New Green Deal which is part of the reconciliation bill.  It is fiscally irresponsible for congress to throw more money on the inflation fire that will break the budgets of more American families and burden them with entitlement programs that will endure forever.

Additionally, the reckless reconciliation bill will require much more money from the private sector to pay for more entitlement programs thus pushing America even closer to socialism while hurting our robust economy.  This bill will increase energy costs and our dependence on foreign oil thereby weakening national security.
