NBC/MSNBC’s outrageous attempt to link Florida Family Association and Executive Director David Caton to al Qaeda’s fatwa calling for the death of anyone who supports Muhammad video.

POLL:  Should we urge companies long-term to stop advertising on MSNBC?  97% Voted YES.

Dear friend,

I received a phone call from NBC news producer Catherine Kim at 9:46 am on Tuesday, September 18, 2012.  She left a voice mail message that she wanted to “chat briefly sometime today” to “get your (my) thoughts on something.”

Considering the fact that NBC/MSNBC is the most biased and mistrusted news organization on cable television I pondered whether or not I would return the call.  However, I believed that it was important to find out what NBC was trying trying to pull, so I returned her call at 11:34 am.  We spoke for 17 minutes and 49 seconds.

Catherine Kim asked me every possible innocuous, open-ended question she could for 17 minutes and 49 seconds aimed at determining if I had anything positive to say about the controversial “Innocence of Muslims” video.  Her final and most direct question asked “Are you planning on doing anything with the video in the future?”

A NBC news producer calls a prominent critic of Islamists just hours after a fatwa was issued against the producers of “Innocence of Muslims”, Florida Pastor Terry Jones and anyone who supports the movie.  How obvious can NBC get in their attempt to link us to the fatwa?  Click here to read the full report in Arabtimesonline.com  Click here to read news at NYDailynews.com

I answered negatively to all of Catherine Kim’s inquires, so she declined to proceed with setting up a locally taped video interview.  I told her that Florida Family Association had no interest whatsoever in the video.

NBC News’ obvious objective was to identify me and Florida Family Association as supporters of the controversial video with the end result of:

  • Painting us with the progressive medias’ deformed color of hate.
  • Increasing the call for our government to censor anyone who dares to criticize Islamists’ extremism thus submitting to Sharia law.
  • Heightening the conflict Islamists are already inflicting on Christians.
  • Linking me personally to the fatwa issued by al Qaeda calling for Muslims to kill Florida Pastor Terry Jones.

NBC/MSNBC’s attempt to escalate this dangerous situation for their progressive political gain at the risk of my family and Florida Family Association workers is OUTRAGEOUS.

Florida Family Association is considering a long term effort to call on companies to stop advertising during MSNBC’s 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm time slot because of their history of dishonest news and especially because of this shameful, dangerous tactic to link us to the fatwa.

Will you stand with Florida Family Association in the weeks and months to come as we routinely identify and call upon MSNBC advertisers to stop supporting their dishonest news?

A Florida Family Association poll question asked:  Should Florida Family Association execute a long term effort to urge companies to stop advertising on MSNBC?  97% answered YES.

Please feel free to send your comments, suggestions or questions directly to davidcaton@floridafamily.org

Sincerely
David Caton
