Governor Crist vetoes
pro-life bill, whose
side will he be on next?
|
Governor Charlie Crist
vetoed HB 1143 which would
have required women seeking
an abortion during the first
trimester to undergo an
ultrasound exam.
Additionally, the
legislation prohibited
taxpayer money from being
used to fund abortions.
This bill could have
influenced more women to
seek the services of crisis
pregnancy centers that offer
free ultrasound. These women
could have benefited from
the ministry and pro-life
counseling offered at crisis
pregnancy centers. Critics
and the mainstream media
failed to include that
important fact in their
objections to the
legislation.
A Center for Women
in Orlando is an example of
one crisis pregnancy center
that offers ultrasound
services.
Most political analysts
predicted that Crist would
veto the pro-life
legislation because running
as an independent he would
not get the strong
conservative vote anyway
that would go to Marco
Rubio.
The Associated Press
reported “As a Republican
legislator, Cabinet officer
and governor, Crist
described himself as
"pro-life." Now running for
the U.S. Senate as an
independent, he indicated
this week he would probably
veto Hudson's bill -- and
the state GOP posted a video
showing him taking the
opposite stance in campaigns
back to 1998.”

Governor Crist was for the
bailout money early last
year before he was against
it in his U.S. Senate radio
ad campaign during the fall
of last year. Crist said on
March 28, 2010 on
Chris Wallace’s Fox News
show that he would run
as a Republican only to
change to Non Party
Affiliation two months
later. Crist campaigned as
“pro-life” in 2006 only to
veto pro-life legislation in
2010. Whose side will he be
on next?
