eHealth Services, Inc. must really love Al Jazeera America to keep spending money to advertise Medicare.com after the end of the health care enrollment period and after recent publicity regarding the network’s plans to close due to poor market share.  Medicare.com is a non-government web site that is operated by eHealth Services, Inc.

Medicare.com was a top advertiser on Al Jazeera America on Monday, February 1, 2016.  However, Healthcare.gov reports that open enrollment ended on January 31, 2016.  Healthcare.gov states: "If you didn’t enroll in a 2016 health insurance plan by January 31, 2016, you can’t enroll in a health insurance plan for 2016 unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period."  Florida Family Association sent out email alerts in November 2015 to encourage people to send emails to eHealth Services, Inc. officials regarding their advertisements on Al Jazeera America. The company continued to advertise despite receiving thousands of emails.  Florida Family Association decided to hold off on any more campaigns calculating that the company certainly would not waste money on advertising after the open enrollment period ended.

Oddly, eHealth Services, Inc. continued to advertise after the open enrollment period ended on January 31, 2016.  Additionally, eHealth Services, Inc. was a top advertiser on Monday, February 1, 2016.

Al Jazeera, whose leaders espouse disgust for Israel, who showed disdain for Charlie Hebdo victims, is a news company that is owned by the non-democratic, monarch styled emirate of Qatar who allows wealthy citizens to financially support ISIS, supports the Muslim Brotherhood, backs the head of Hamas, espouses Islamic Sharia law and does not afford citizens freedom of the press.  There are many reasons why Corporate America should not expend United States' consumer dollars with Al Jazeera America.   Click here to read more.

News outlets across the country report that Al Jazeera America will shut down in April 2016.  The New York Times reports "In a memo to the staff, Al Jazeera America’s chief executive, Al Anstey, said the “decision by Al Jazeera America’s board is driven by the fact that our business model is simply not sustainable in light of the economic challenges in the U.S. media marketplace."

Now is not the time to back off on “the economic challenges” that Al Jazeera cites for closing the network.  The decline in oil prices certainly gutted Qatar's ability to underwrite Al Jazeera America.  However, if the network had advertising revenues to cover operating expenses Qatar would not have planned to close the channel.  If oil prices should rebound and/or the network attract advertisers a decision could be made to keep the network.  Florida Family Association will continue to monitor Al Jazeera America until the network officially closes in April 2016.  Advertiser officials will continue to be contacted.  Online campaigns will continue to be launched.

Why is it important to vigorously challenge American companies not to advertise with Al Jazeera America?

*     No other company poses a larger threat for the most American companies to start doing business with Islamist companies.
*    The news media does influence the political positions of the public. The Islamist political positions held by Al Jazeera officials and/or owner, especially those positions summarized below, pose a threat to changing American public policy that has protected life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
*    American companies that acquire advertising with Al Jazeera America are giving United States consumer dollars to an Islamist Sharia minded regime.
*     Eighty one percent of respondents to Al Jazeera survey say they support ISIS.

eHealth Services, Inc. certainly has the right to choose where they use their advertising dollars.  You have the same right to object and choose to patronize other companies that won't give your consumer dollars to Al Jazeera.

Florida Family Association has prepared an email for you to send to urge eHealth Services, Inc. officials to stop advertising on Al Jazeera America.
